Best things to 3D print! Week of July 17th

Hello Pinshapers,

This week flew by! But to celebrate the end of the week, we browsed our site to choose our personal favourites to present to you. We’ve got some good picks for the summer— whether it’s a design that’ll require some assembly, making it the perfect summer project, or ones that you can print and have fun with under the sun, we’ve got it all. Our front-end developer Wojtek isn’t here this week, but we’ve got Allen who’s just joined the team, and has a staff pick to share with you already!

Tardis With Drawers by MakeALot

Time machine? Yes please! MakeAlot (who actually does make a lot!), designed this cool Tardis time machine from the British Sci-Fi show Doctor Who. It’s actually pretty big (see the ruler in the photo) and has drawers to keep organized!

Who doesn’t love toy cars? Especially 3D printed ones that you get to build yourself and has spinning wheels!? With a couple of different vehicles to choose from, and even a body design that can link multiple together, desiigmo has done a great job creating a fun maker project that results in a cool toy. Add some racing stripes or a cool paint job to take it to the next level. But if you’re in a city where Uber is banned, you may want to go with the Gro-Rover instead!

3D-Printable Sand Playset by CreativeTools

Ah play time at the beach! Why go out to the store and pay $15+ for an overstocked sand play set when you can print them at home over a weekend? Haha! This is the heart of #makerlife. Anyway maybe I haven’t been paying attention to the toy section much, but that sand sifter is a neat addition to a sand toy set I haven’t seen before. Rocks be gone!!

orange peeler pinshape staff pick shookdesign best things to 3d print

Orange Peeler by shookdesign

This is the FIRST useful 3D printed thing I’ve used. I’ve printed off many figurines, maybe even a box or two, but this little thing saved me in my time of need. There I sat with an orange in my hand, too lazy to walk to the kitchen area. Then I remembered this orange peeler Nick had printed off a few weeks ago and that it was sitting on the shelves near my desk. I grabbed it and it worked like magic. It takes only about an hour to print out. What amazed me most was that the little nub for cutting your oranges is actually pretty sharp— I almost cut myself! Simple to use and small enough to just leave in the fruit bowl 🙂

Flexy Rex by zheng3

Even though it’s another great target for my air rifle it’s a great design in itself! Never saw such a concept – a 3D printed design that looks like it can be stretched like an accordion. And yeah – you cannot stop him. You cannot contain him. You can only endure until he passes. #RAWR

That’s it for this week! Which Pinshape design would you have chosen? Check back next week for another set of picks from your Pinshape staff, or subscribe to our mailing list to get this delivered to your inbox every Friday!
