Smartphone Photo Studio for #3DBenchy and tiny stuff by CreativeTools
Nick and I have been mucking around with studio-style photography in the office and there has even been talk of bringing in backdrops! Evidently these side projects have rekindled my love for studio photography. Close ups, depth of field, dramatic lighting?? Love it! So when I saw this tiny studio set made by CreativeTools, I had to share it with y’all! In art school, I made a habit of photo documenting my work as I produced them so that putting together a portfolio at the end of the year wouldn’t be a giant chore. Start sharing your 3D prints with beautiful photos this weekend!

Mr. Cheezle
I’m a big fan of post its & sticky notes and even use an app called stickies for my Mac. I also lose my phone (plus keys, credit card, etc) on a regular basis so this sleek little iPhone holder is perfect for me. It’s something you can easily print and put it to use right away. The perfect 3D printable file!

Strandbeest Inspired Walking Machine by danowall
I’ve never actually seen one of these in motion, but I’m going to print this off and see what happens! It’s inspired by Theo Jansen’s Strandbeest creatures, and doesn’t look too complicated to assemble + a here’s a cool video.

Hogwarts Castle lamp by MiniWorld
With the news that there will be a new prequel to the Harry Potter movies coming out – Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them – this was a great choice. As always, Miniworld has gone above and beyond in the creation of this design, even adding a functional element in the form of support for a night light. This awesome print will be sure to keep all you wizards safe from he who shall not be named!

Lock Pick Set Card by Pirateprincess
Imagine loosing your keys and knowing that you can still get in your own place by using the lock pick set in your wallet. It would feel pretty cool, eh? Lock-picking seems like a skill that would be fun to learn. Disclaimer: carrying a lock pick set may be a felony in your location.

Stark Ice Scrapper by Stafan Birghan
Winter is coming and obviously we need to prepare ourselves. And an ice scraper stamped with the Stark sigil is one of the tools that’ll keep your mode of transport ready to combat whatever the cold throws at you!

Guitar hero 😉
We have 2 guitars at home, and I even have earrings shaped like a guitar. I can’t live without guitar music and I like everything about guitars, but can’t play one…ha-ha 🙂 On the other hand, I love all these small things that make your home cozy and stylish. This guitar lamp looks really awesome, and it’s also useful.

Cable holder for night stand – apple lightning by Ekdahl
If you’ve got an iPhone, there is a good chance you leave it plugged in at night so that it’s charged in the morning. I keep one charger next to the bed, so that I don’t forget to plug it in. With Ekdahl’s design, it will be even easier. No need to look for the cable on the floor, it will always be where it’s supposed to. Cool!

I think this is a beautiful design. I love all of phill_lulland’s unique designs and I’m excited about the possibilities 3D printing will present to the artists of the future. Phill has also completed some post-processing of this print to get that beautifully smooth and shiny finish. If you want to achieve a similar result with your prints, check out our blog on post-processing PLA & ABS prints.

Are you excited for the new Star Wars movie!? I’m a big fan so I thought this Darth Vader cup was fitting! Plus, there’s nothing better than curling up with a hot cup o’ vader java during the colder months. Keep warm and sip from the dark side!
